
First Showing has photos of Russell Crowe in the upcoming, 2009 political thriller, "State of Play." Kevin Macdonald directs from a script inspired by the BBC min-sseries on which it's based. Helen Mirren, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright Penn and Jason Bateman also star. The film is being shot in Washington, D.C.
This synopsis from IMDB.com: "Based on the BBC mini-series of the same title, a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman's mistress."
That quite a fright wig Crowe is sporting, and a continued slide into moving away from how he looked back in the day, as the photo indicates:

Well, he's gained a large amount of weight for other films, like The Insider, and slimmed back down, so I expect he'll be calling Jenny Craig after this one too!
