Official product description:

"Experience Ancient Rome firsthand on the street, the battlefield and the senate floor.

Filled with dramatic re-enactments and action-packed battle scenes, ROME: RISE AND FALL OF AN EMPIRE chronicles the story of one of history's greatest empires from its first major battle (the Barbarian Invasion of 114 BC), through its remarkable military feats, to its eventual fall. Told from the point of view of the Roman people under violent attack, this exceptional documentary achievement takes viewers inside the fiery battles of a civilization crumbling in the face of brutal invasions.

Vivid recreations offer a firsthand look at the chaotic state of an empire in flames, while compelling characters on both sides fight for victory. Teeming streets, horseback battles, warring armies, and gladiatorial contests coexist with magnificent tales of Roman debauchery and excess. Lavish production values ensure that every frame of this fan-favorite series delights and amazes.

From the first Roman-Barbarian War to the very last gruesome battle, HISTORY® follows each harrowing moment of the famed empire's slow decline and the human struggle for survival in this exciting 13 episode series, available now in this single awe-striking DVD set."

We are giving away THREE copies, and winning is easy.

The contest will end on October 28, 2008.

I think that Rome is one of the most amazing places in the world today. I enjoyed the HBO series and can't wait to receive this set from a more historical point of view. The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire is a fascinating story of power, struggle, and conquering. From the first kings, then the Republic and finally the Emperor's rule. From the Gods they worshiped to amazing engineering accomplishments, this period has to be one of history's most incredible. Rome today is sprinkled with an enormous amount of these monuments, buildings and artifacts. Worth a look.
